65th Berlin International Film Festival Selects Aspera for Fast, Secure File-Based Film Delivery

Aspera, an IBM company, was selected as an Official Supplier for the 65th Berlin International Film Festival to address a growing Big Data challenge: the festival began receiving 4K feature films and DCPs up to 250 GB each from contributors worldwide. Traditional methods like physical delivery and FTP were too slow, costly and unreliable to meet the festival’s tight schedules and high-volume ingest needs.

The festival standardized on Aspera Shares, supported by Aspera Console and Aspera Connect Server, to enable secure, high-speed file-based delivery that fully utilizes a 10 Gb fiber connection regardless of distance or network conditions. The new workflow dramatically shortened transfer times, improved reliability and visibility, scaled to meet demand, and allowed Berlinale to efficiently gather and manage large-format digital cinema content for on-time screenings.
