Voith, a globally active engineering company with a highly decentralized structure, needed a standardized, group-wide Software Asset Management approach to improve license compliance, increase transparency, and reduce the manual effort and errors involved in tracking software across more than 360 legal entities. Using Aspera Technologies’ expertise and Aspera SmartTrack, Voith set out to centralize software license management and establish the necessary technical, procedural, and organizational foundations.

Aspera Technologies implemented SmartTrack with custom integrations to key systems such as Microsoft SCCM and transfer databases, along with work-council-compliant software metering and server license management. The result was centralized, automated license management with better data quality, stronger compliance, and clearer insight into software usage and demand. Voith also reported significant cost reductions, including trimming its Microsoft Enterprise Agreement to match actual usage, improved negotiation leverage, and faster decision-making based on up-to-date reports.
