BITMARCK, the largest IT service provider for German state health insurers, needed to bring order and auditability to a highly complex software landscape while merging multiple IT departments with different processes, infrastructures, and maturity levels. With a broad and growing software portfolio, strict compliance requirements, and non-digitized commercial records, the company needed a way to build a reliable license inventory and track software usage more transparently using Aspera SmartTrack.

Aspera implemented SmartTrack to digitize and normalize BITMARCK’s license data, connect the necessary data sources, and automate ongoing license management processes. The result was company-wide transparency across more than 1,500 software items from 100+ vendors, improved audit readiness, and more efficient purchasing and contract management. BITMARCK also reported a 10% increase in productivity in software purchasing, alongside better license control and reusable licenses from previously unused installations.
