Process Ecology, a Calgary-based oil and gas consultancy, needed to improve gas dehydration processes while meeting strict local and federal emissions regulations. To do this the company leveraged Aspen Technology solutions — specifically the aspenONE® Engineering suite and the Aspen HYSYS glycol dehydration property package — to build accurate process models, predict emissions, and generate the documentation required for regulatory compliance.

Using Aspen Technology’s Aspen HYSYS and aspenONE workflows, Process Ecology implemented automated simulation and emissions-reporting tools, optimized glycol circulation rates, and validated emissions predictions. The work helped avoid regulatory shutdowns (saving up to $60K/day), reduced energy costs by up to $30K/year for a single dehydrator, improved operational efficiency, and produced repeatable, auditable emissions reports to ensure ongoing compliance.
