Major European Chemical Producer Implements Planning and Scheduling Software for Elastomers and Styrenics

European Chemical Production Company, a major European petrochemical producer with divisions including Styrenics and Elastomers, needed to replace manual planning and scheduling tools to reduce costs, improve customer service, and increase agility in responding to market changes. To meet these objectives it selected Aspen Technology and its aspenONE Supply Chain Management software to standardize planning and scheduling across sites and integrate with existing ERP and forecasting systems.

Aspen Technology implemented a phased rollout starting with an integrated Styrenics prototype (one planning model and three scheduling models) fully integrated with SAP and custom inventory/forecast apps, then extended the solution to Elastomers and 32 product families across eight plants. The Aspen Technology deployment delivered measurable gains: 97% on-time delivery accuracy, 10–20% reductions in inventory and in campaign transitions, lower packaging and transportation costs, and improved customer service and cross-functional visibility.
