Leading FPSO Provider - Customer Case Study

Leading FPSO Provider, a specialist supplier of floating production, storage and offloading vessels for the offshore oil and gas industry in Japan, faced a complex commissioning challenge: subcontracted projects generated heavy permit-to-work volumes (about 100 permits per day and over 40,000 isolation tags) that were tracked on paper, error-prone and hard to archive or coordinate across multiple teams. To address this, they engaged ASK EHS to evaluate and implement a digitized permit-to-work (e-PTW) system to standardize and centralize permit, isolation and SIMOPS management during commissioning.

ASK EHS deployed its e-PTW solution, integrated into the customer’s systems with ready-to-use templates, automated alerts, SIMOPS conflict management, mobile/offline capability and a central repository for permits and P&ID-tag data. The rollout (after UAT) streamlined handling of >40,000 tags and daily permit flows, increased hands-on tool time, reduced permit preparation and backlogs, improved hazard recognition, planning and risk assessments, and delivered actionable dashboards and reports for compliance and forecasting — measurably boosting efficiency and coordination across commissioning teams.
