Astican, a ship repair yard (Astilleros Canarios) with ~1,500 staff undertaking 160–180 projects a year, needed an automated solution to standardize disparate permit-to-work processes, improve compliance and replace slow paper-based workflows that generated over 100 permits daily. They selected ASK EHS and its e-PTW (Permit to Work) software to harmonize permit templates, manage high-risk shipyard activities and ensure safer, more consistent operations.

ASK EHS delivered a customized e-PTW SaaS solution (Microsoft Azure) with a mobile app, multilingual support, permit tracking, digital signatures, simultaneous-operations conflict management and automated notifications. ASK EHS standardized Astican’s forms in one month and completed rollout in 8–10 weeks (with a month of UAT); the system is now used across the shipyard, managed by 200–250 people. The result: fewer paper permits, standardized workflows, reduced errors and improved visibility and compliance through a centralized permit repository and real-time dashboards.
