Sheffield Insulations Group (SIG), a leading European distributor of specialist building products, was looking to improve cash generation and streamline its order-processing operations in a fragmented market. The company wanted to adopt electronic ordering and better connect its supply chain, but only if a new system could prove it would improve processes and deliver value to both SIG and its customers. Asite PLC was brought in to assess SIG’s workflows and identify a suitable supply chain management approach.
Asite PLC implemented a Supply Chain Management solution, including a hosted electronic supplier catalog and pilot order application, to receive and manage orders digitally. The solution allowed customers such as Fireclad to place purchase orders electronically, check order status, and receive updates through the Asite portal, while SIG integrated orders directly into its back-office system. The results included a 20–30% reduction in time spent on branch sales activities, integration across 585 branches, improved access to information, and fewer ordering errors through pre-populated catalogs.
