VGTI of Florida Uses MaintiMizer to Meet Its Maintenance Mission

The Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute of Florida is a nonprofit research institute whose mission is to protect long-term, sensitive research across a complex 100,000-square-foot facility with critical lab and plant equipment (including some 80 freezers, cryogenic tanks and multiple redundant mechanical systems). Faced with the risk that outages or equipment failures could jeopardize years of work, facilities director Jim Rizzi selected MaintiMizer from Ashcom Technologies as the computerized maintenance management system to centralize and standardize maintenance across the institute.

Ashcom Technologies implemented MaintiMizer, importing VGTI Florida’s asset data, training staff, and enabling mobile access so technicians can view manuals, SOPs, parts lists and maintenance history on iPads and iPhones. The system now manages about 400 preventive maintenance tasks per month, supports NIH audits with detailed logs, and has reduced downtime and costs—helping the institute run 50% below expected energy usage, maintain LEED Gold performance, and scale easily to additional facilities.
