Prendiville Industries Company’s Kenora Forest Products mill was producing about 52 million board feet per year but was constrained by a reactive, repair‑focused maintenance culture, frequent stoppages, no CMMS, and a disorganized storeroom. To drive a cultural and process change, the mill engaged Ashcom Technologies (providing the MaintiMizer CMMS and coaching services) to assess maintenance practices and recommend a Maintenance Excellence approach.
Ashcom Technologies helped select and implement MaintiMizer, trained a planner/scheduler, coached focus teams on equipment condition upgrades, developed equipment maintenance plans and storeroom controls (including bar coding), and instituted performance metrics and training. The results included a 54% production increase (from ~52 to 80 million board ft/yr), the addition of a third shift, dramatically lower inventory and emergency‑parts costs, reduced operating cost per board foot, and an almost 10‑fold return on the implementation investment within two years.
