ZuidOostZorg, a care organization in the Netherlands, needed better methods to support residents with dementia by providing targeted care that respected their individual daily rhythms while also creating a safer, calmer environment for both patients and caregivers. They partnered with vendor Ascom to implement the Ascom Activity Monitoring solution to address this challenge.

Ascom implemented a system using wireless sensors and smart software to create personalized digital profiles for each resident. The solution alerts staff only when a resident's behavior significantly deviates from their normal pattern, allowing caregivers to focus their attention where it is needed most. This has led to a reduction in unnecessary staff interventions, increased resident privacy and calm, and a more optimized, data-driven care process. Ascom configured the system in close co-creation with ZuidOostZorg to ensure it perfectly supported their specific work processes and improved overall care quality.
