Slingeland Hospital, facing the challenge of needing to continuously monitor patients to detect deterioration earlier, partnered with vendor Ascom to trial the Sensing Clinic project using the Digistat Suite communication platform. This initiative aimed to move beyond traditional point measurements of vital signs to provide better care and manage increasing demands on their services.

Ascom implemented a system of wireless sensors to monitor COVID-19 patients' vital signs continuously, with data processed centrally and alerts sent to nurses' smartphones. This solution provided real-time insight into patient conditions, allowing for earlier intervention. The results demonstrated that deterioration was identified faster, and the project revealed the potential for technology to support healthcare professionals and for future remote patient monitoring.
