CQUniversity, a leading Australian provider of distance education, faced aging HR systems that were impeding operations after a supporting system became unsupported by 2004. To address this, CQUniversity worked with Ascender to upgrade its Ascender Human Resources Information System (HRIS) — including Personnel Administration, Payroll Management, Leave Administration and Applicant Tracking — and approved a 2006 program for a health check, data cleanse and infrastructure updates.
Ascender upgraded the HRIS to the latest version, rolled out the Web Self Service (“Employee Self Service Online”) and deployed all modules with no customisation, making the HRIS the single authoritative source of employee information. The Ascender solution delivered clear efficiency gains: online leave eliminated 12,000 manual forms in 12 months and achieved 85% same‑day booking/approval, Payslips Online removed printing and saved the equivalent of one full‑time day per fortnight, performance management removed paper processes, and employees can now update bank, address and emergency contact details online.
