Aflac Asset Management Japan needed to simplify its internal HR and payroll processes after its previous system became too complicated, unable to manage different employee types or support communication with its New York HR team. In January 2018 the company transitioned to Ascender’s Workcloud Employee Self‑Service for Payroll and Social/Labour insurance to address these challenges.

Ascender implemented Workcloud with custom features — including an ID‑card labour time recording, shared calendars and a bespoke “deemed overtime” workframe — letting employees manage overtime and enabling clearer team collaboration. The result: a more reliable, faster payroll process supported by Ascender’s team, easier labour record management for staff, improved productivity (with a set 20 hours/month deemed overtime alongside a seven‑hour workday), and greater HR efficiency in both Japan and New York.
