Memorial Hermann Health Services, a 20,000‑employee integrated health system serving greater Houston, faced widespread information and workflow challenges across dozens of facilities — from managing hundreds of disparate reports and routing sections to more than 5,000 departments, to slow accounts payable, travel & expense reimbursements, capital approvals and check requests that relied on manual processes and took weeks or months. To meet the demand for faster, auditable processes in days rather than months, Memorial Hermann turned to Ascend Software and its SmartTouch and ReportSafe solutions.

Ascend Software implemented SmartTouch AP (integrated with OB10), ReportSafe enterprise report management, SmartTouch T&E, SmartTouch Capital and an online check request solution to capture invoices, automate approvals, enforce policy controls, and archive and distribute reports. The results: ReportSafe paid for itself within six months and gave 24x7 access to reports (saving finance three employees two days of work), SmartTouch T&E cut expense reimbursement from about a month to a day, capital approvals moved from weeks/months to as little as a day, and check requests that took days were completed in hours — delivering measurable cost and time savings while eliminating manual data entry into the ERP.
