Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, an integrated healthcare delivery system, faced a “mountain of paper” in its HR department and wanted to eliminate paper reporting across the organization. After evaluating Ascend Software’s HR Business Process Automation, Health Alliance selected Ascend to modernize processes that were bogging down benefits administration — notably the manual tuition reimbursement workflow.

Ascend Software implemented a web-based HR automation solution (including an online tuition reimbursement form with real-time error checking, automatic confirmations and reminders, and the ability to store scanned documents), which streamlined benefit form processing for items like tuition reimbursements, flexible spending accounts and United Way contributions. The change cut man-hours for a tuition reimbursement submission from 185 to 66, improved employee satisfaction with automatic confirmations and faster payments, and positioned Health Alliance to expand other HR forms and at-home access with Ascend Software.
