The Education Trust–West is the California office of the national nonprofit The Education Trust, working to close opportunity and achievement gaps for students of color and low‑income students. With a small regional team, Operations and Talent Manager Elizabeth Calmeyer was managing recruiting, office moves, and day‑to‑day systems without a unified work management solution—resulting in messy handoffs, duplicated or outdated processes, an unintuitive tool, and unclear org‑wide schedules.

After piloting and rolling out Asana, the team adopted request forms, project templates, meeting agendas, and onboarding workflows that fit their way of working. The change cut internal email, sped up hiring and onboarding, clarified schedules and speaking proposals, and increased transparency and task ownership—helping them replace long docs and spreadsheets and successfully plan large events like the California College Affordability Summit while strengthening their advocacy for students.
