A Asana Case Study
Providence, led by Mayor Jorge Elorza, set out to tackle the familiar challenge of municipal inefficiency—bureaucratic delays, information overload, and a reactive culture that let constituent requests slip through the cracks. With a stated goal to make City Hall more innovative and accountable, the administration needed a way to streamline workflows, improve internal communication, and deliver more responsive public services without adding resources.
The city adopted Asana across the administration, created a Chief Innovation Officer role with a dedicated team, and used the tool to manage meetings, track tasks and emergency checklists, and centralize constituent-service workflows. The result: clearer accountability, faster follow-ups, measurable improvements in customer responsiveness, reduced staff stress, more time for long-term planning, and the capacity to take on bigger, data-driven projects—turning Providence into a model other mayors look to emulate.
