A Asana Case Study
Open Door Rehabilitation Center, founded in 1963 in Sandwich, Illinois, supports adults with developmental disabilities through activities, vocational training and community housing — embodied by Oddo, their octopus mascot that represents a balanced life. With 29 employees (including six administrative staff) serving about 130 clients, the lean, idea-driven team struggled with scattered schedules, monthly-only meetings, overflowing email, and difficulty prioritizing and tracking work across many programs.
After evaluating collaboration tools, Open Door adopted Asana to centralize projects for each of Oddo’s tentacles — from Disability Prom logistics to client medical notes — and to manage meeting agendas, one-on-ones, and monthly project audits. The result: email was largely eliminated, project execution became faster and more thorough, staff collaboration and leadership opportunities expanded, and the organization gained time and cost savings that let them launch more programs and focus resources on client services.
