A Asana Case Study
Make School, founded in 2013, delivers hands-on computer science education and pioneered an accredited bachelor’s program where students only pay tuition if they get a job—serving 2,000+ students with 45% students of color. To launch the accredited degree in partnership with Dominican University, the engineering team had to build most features from scratch and manage a complex, cross-functional accreditation process across distributed teams, while their existing JIRA workflow proved cumbersome.
They moved sprint and project work into Asana—using Boards for tickets, two-week sprint projects, My Tasks, custom story-point fields, and Asana Inbox/Conversations to loop in stakeholders. Over 42 sprints and thousands of tickets, Asana brought visibility, smoother handoffs, and better cross-team coordination, enabling a successful launch of the accredited bachelor’s program and adoption of Asana across engineering processes.
