human-I-T closes the digital divide for 101,000 people with Asana

human‑I‑T is a Los Angeles‑based nonprofit founded in 2012 to close the digital divide and reduce e‑waste by refurbishing donated devices and providing low‑cost internet and digital literacy. As donations and programs grew — and with hundreds of devices moving through two warehouses — their paper spec‑sheet process became unreliable, lacked transparency and accountability, and limited their ability to scale distribution to people in need.

Moving to Asana organization‑wide, human‑I‑T replaced handwritten spec sheets with tasks and custom fields, standardized workflows, centralized onboarding, and integrated Formstack, HubSpot and Google Sheets to automate intake and partner communication. The result: faster processing, clearer ownership, expansion plans (including a Detroit location), a fourfold increase in service offerings, a doubling of devices distributed from 2019–2020, and the ability to reach over 101,000 people.
