A Aryel Case Study

Preview of the Mulino Bianco Case Study

Mulino Bianco breathes new life into beloved 80s snack-time surprises, thanks to AR

The customer, Mulino Bianco, a leading Italian bakery brand, wanted to revive its iconic 80s snack-time toy surprises to bridge generations by appealing to parents' nostalgia while engaging their tech-savvy children. The challenge was to reintroduce these vintage toys in a modern way without losing their original charm, by finding a technological hook to add value. Partnering with vendor Aryel, they sought to create an innovative campaign using augmented reality.

Aryel developed a WebAR campaign featuring three nostalgic advergames accessible via QR codes found in special Sorpresina boxes. The solution included games like a digital basketball hoop and an updated whack-a-mole, which blended the brand's traditional, simple play with immersive technology, requiring no app download. The campaign was a significant success for Aryel, achieving over 550,000 unique users, a 92% participation rate from Gen-Z and Millennials, and more than 150 hours of total dwell time in augmented reality.
