WebJunction Uses Social E-Learning To Keep Librarians On Pace With Technology

WebJunction is a nonprofit online community where more than 61,000 library staff and volunteers learn and share best practices. Facing rapid technology change, budget pressures, and the need for consistent, LMS‑compatible staff training across many state partners, WebJunction needed an easy, scalable way to help library workers create and deliver self‑paced e‑learning and keep staff skills current.

They adopted Articulate (Presenter + PowerPoint workflow) and launched the Course Creation Gurus group—monthly learning sessions, learner showcases, a resource hub with community tutorials, and LMS integration with Plateau. The program engaged members across 10 states, produced several published courses (including a storytelling module and “There Will Always Be Stories”), and a survey found 100% of participants felt better prepared to build e‑learning—while creating an ongoing peer network for shared practice and rapid problem‑solving.
