The Redwoods Group Reduces Risk with Insurance E-Learning

The Redwoods Group, an insurance and risk-management provider for YMCAs, Jewish Community Centers, and nonprofit resident camps, needed a more consistent, scalable way to train staff to protect children and reduce liability. Relying on instructor-led sessions for roughly 30,000 employees annually proved costly, inconsistent across locations, and hard to schedule, limiting the company’s reach and impact.

To address this, Redwoods launched The Redwoods Institute in 2009 and built e-learning courses with Articulate Studio (using Engage, Quizmaker, and Presenter) covering critical safety topics. The online program expanded to 16+ courses, tripled annual learners to about 100,000, reduced claims, freed HR from logistics, improved consistency and preparedness for in-person meetings, and better aligned training outcomes with the organization’s mission.
