Medical E-Learning Is Alive And Well At McMaster University School of Medicine

McMaster University School of Medicine faced growing enrollment in its obstetrics and gynecology program and limited faculty time to deliver more classroom instruction. To scale training for future OB/GYNs without sacrificing learning outcomes, the team set out to convert existing lectures into web-based courses—ultimately developing 22 e-learning modules.

They adopted Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio and Articulate Online to build interactive courses, quizzes, and progress-tracking, and ran hands-on workshops where faculty converted PowerPoint lectures into modules in about 120 minutes. The result: a scalable, easily maintained e-learning program that reduced faculty burden and—by the school’s own study—delivered knowledge retention on par with traditional classroom training.
