Coaching Association of Canada Uses E-Learning to Stem Sports Concussions

The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) faced a big challenge: train coaches across five sports—in both English and French—on concussion prevention, identification, and safe return-to-play, all with no prior e-learning experience and a tight funding-driven timeline of less than six months. Their existing authoring tools couldn’t meet the design and interactivity needs, so the team needed a fast, powerful solution to deliver complex, scenario-based learning to thousands of coaches.

CAC rebuilt the program in Articulate Storyline, producing a bilingual five-sport series with animations, athlete video testimonials, branching scenarios, gated assessments, and an “Ask the Doctor” resource hub. The project was finished before the funding window closed; more than 1,400 coaches completed the course, 98.7% report improved ability to prevent and manage concussions, and the course earned an International E-Learning Association Honorable Mention.
