Case Study: Portico Benefit Services improves holistic well-being with Artemis Health

A Artemis Health Case Study

Preview of the Portico Benefit Services Case Study

Portico Benefit Services Used Data and Innovation to Address Emotional Well-Being

Portico Benefit Services, the benefits ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, needed a better way to support the emotional well-being of its 46,000 members, including rostered ministers facing isolation, burnout, and high stress. Using the Artemis Platform from Artemis Health to analyze claims data, Portico identified rising behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, mood, and adjustment disorders, as well as elevated EAP use and self-reported depression.

Artemis Health helped Portico pair data insights with two wellness programs: The Big Know’s Being academy and Learn to Live’s online CBT mental health program. Portico also customized Being with faith-based content and new courses on gratitude and vocational well-being. Early results were strong, with members engaging 15 minutes longer on average than The Big Know’s broader book of business and a 42-minute average engagement time, while Learn to Live saw high participation. Portico will continue using Artemis Health to monitor claims and measure the impact on behavioral health costs and utilization.
