Danaher Corporation partnered with Artemis Health to better understand rising musculoskeletal-related healthcare costs and the indirect impact these conditions were having on employee health and productivity. The company wanted clearer insight into claims trends, top conditions, treatment patterns, and associated comorbidities so it could identify opportunities to improve care and reduce future costs.

Artemis Health helped Danaher analyze claims data, gather employee feedback through “gemba” visits, and convene a Health Summit with benefits vendors to brainstorm interventions. The effort surfaced key findings, including that over 50% of members with musculoskeletal disorders were not receiving PT/OT/chiropractic care and nearly 25% were using opioids, while orthopedic surgery episodes averaged about $40,000. Based on these insights, Danaher planned pilots such as pre-disability support, wellbeing champions, targeted campaigns, low back pain point solutions, and improved care navigation to measure and improve outcomes over time.
