Kara, a Bay Area nonprofit providing grief support since 1976, relies on fundraising for over 90% of its $1.4M annual budget. When the COVID‑19 pandemic made their April in‑person gala impossible and left them needing to net $100,000 to sustain programs, Kara partnered with Arreva and used Arreva’s ExceedFurther® donor relationship management and fundraising solution to pivot to an eight‑day virtual event.
Using Arreva’s ExceedFurther®, Kara created virtual event and donation pages, ran daily themed emails, enabled pledges, recurring gifts, tribute donations and processing‑fee options, integrated employer matching (via Double the Donation), and mobilized board members to solicit donations. The campaign raised $127,000 in eight days (surpassing the $100K goal), brought in 80 new donors and $37,000 in matching gifts; roughly 10% of transactions were pledges/checks that accounted for about 40% of the revenue.
