The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which supports diocesan ministries and a wide range of programs including migration and refugee services, needed secure, easy remote access to sensitive client data as staff increasingly worked from the field and on mobile devices. Their legacy Array SPX800 VPN had reached end-of-life and could not support newer OSes and mobile platforms, creating a risk to data security and worker productivity.

They upgraded to an Array AG1000 gateway with the DesktopDirect module, delivering secure remote desktop access, 2048-bit SSL encryption, endpoint checks and a branded portal with Active Directory authentication. The solution keeps confidential data on the Conference network (never stored on remote devices), lets staff access files and email from any device as if in the office, and restored compatibility with modern operating systems while improving security and user experience.
