South Carolina Federal Credit Union - Customer Case Study

South Carolina Federal Credit Union, a member-focused financial institution serving over 150,000 members and nearly $1.5 billion in assets, relied on Fiserv for core processing, online/mobile banking and other critical services. When Fiserv recommended upgrading to HTTPS with 2048‑bit SSL, the credit union faced the challenge of maintaining 24x7 availability and performance of its business‑critical applications without overloading servers or risking downtime during maintenance.

The credit union deployed two Array APV1600 application delivery controllers with AppVelocity‑S to provide load balancing and hardware SSL offloading (one in production, one hot spare). Offloading compute‑intensive SSL tasks from five Fiserv servers preserved server performance and throughput, ensured continuous access during maintenance and outages, and delivered a quiet, reliable solution that was quick to configure and has run trouble‑free in production.
