SoftLayer (an IBM company) is a global infrastructure‑as‑a‑service provider delivering bare‑metal and virtual servers, networking and cloud services. The company needed to offer value‑added, on‑demand load‑balancing with high availability, rapid provisioning and simplified configuration, plus secure remote access so both customers and SoftLayer administrators could manage segmented networks anytime, anywhere.

SoftLayer deployed Array Networks APV application delivery controllers and AG SSL VPN gateways at each point‑of‑delivery and integrated them with its web portal via Array’s eCloud APIs. The result was on‑the‑fly shared and dedicated LBaaS with hardware‑accelerated SSL, consistent configuration across ADC models, scalable performance and secure remote management—enabling faster provisioning, reliable throughput and improved customer self‑service.
