Los Angeles Community College District - Customer Case Study

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), the nation’s largest community college system serving roughly 250,000 students across nine colleges, needed to ensure high availability and performance while migrating to a new Oracle PeopleSoft student information system. The IT team faced management complexity, tight budgets, and the need to minimize operational overhead while keeping critical services—class scheduling, grades, transcripts—reliably accessible.

After a proof-of-concept, LACCD deployed Array Networks’ APV Series (two APV3600s in production and vAPV virtual appliances in the lab, with future cloud plans), chosen for ease of use, affordability and consistent software across physical, virtual and cloud environments. The APVs delivered robust load balancing and improved reliability for PeopleSoft (and later Exchange/ADFS), simplified configuration and cloning, fast vendor support for an Oracle-related issue, and the flexibility to scale services without blowing the budget.
