County of Maui, Hawaii - Customer Case Study

The County of Maui, which provides city-level services across several islands, needed to consolidate decades-old, department-specific GIS and mapping systems into a single ArcGIS Enterprise platform. Rapidly growing data and aging, hard-to-maintain systems made unified access, performance and manageability a priority, yet the IT team also had to meet tight budget and virtualization goals when selecting a load balancer.

The county deployed Array vAPV virtual application delivery controllers in its primary and disaster‑recovery data centers as an affordable, easy-to-manage alternative to the vendor-recommended option. The vAPVs installed smoothly, have delivered reliable load balancing and high availability for ArcGIS servers, and gave IT a flexible, future-ready appliance that maintains GIS performance for multiple departments while keeping costs and administrative overhead low.
