Boots & Coots - Customer Case Study

Boots & Coots, a Houston-based well control and fire suppression company with global offices, was struggling to replicate large volumes of data multiple times per day across a constrained WAN. Latency, low bandwidth, packet loss and network contention caused replication jobs to queue or fail, preventing the company from meeting backup windows, delaying IT staff, increasing bandwidth costs and jeopardizing RTO/RPO targets (4-hour RTO, 30-minute RPO).

The company deployed Array Networks’ aCelera virtual WAN optimization appliance on its VMware ESX hosts at headquarters and remote sites, replacing costly hardware accelerators. The virtual solution cut backup and replication time by 90% (about 3x faster than the previous hardware), reduced bandwidth use by 86–92%, lowered latency to 40 ms, and delivered ongoing savings (roughly $700/month in bandwidth plus reduced maintenance and CAPEX), enabling Boots & Coots to meet its recovery objectives while leveraging existing virtual infrastructure.
