AngloGold Ashanti Develops Reliability Based Maintenance Strategies

AngloGold Ashanti, one of the world’s leading gold mining companies, needed to prepare its new Tropicana Gold Project in Western Australia for reliable operation before commissioning. To avoid costly delays and maintenance issues after startup, it turned to ARMS Reliability to develop reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) based maintenance strategies for the processing plant’s assets.

ARMS Reliability spent 12 months creating RCM studies and live maintenance models for more than 300 pieces of equipment, using Availability Workbench and then uploading the maintenance strategies into SAP. The result was detailed, updateable asset strategies covering maintenance tasks, spares, labor, and shutdown planning, helping AngloGold Ashanti forecast maintenance costs more accurately, improve long-term plant performance, and support continuous improvement from day one.
