Armis Helps Singapore University Improve Visibility, Boost Its Security Posture, And Build A Security Culture

Singapore University of Technology And Design (SUTD), a research-intensive higher education institution with about 2,000 students and 900 faculty and staff, needed better visibility into unmanaged BYOD, research equipment, and other network-connected assets that were outside IT’s control. To improve its cybersecurity posture and build a stronger culture of security accountability, SUTD turned to Armis and its agentless, passive monitoring platform to uncover what was actually connected to the campus network.

Armis helped SUTD discover and inventory previously unknown devices, including laptops, tablets, mobile devices, servers, cameras, building controls, and gaming consoles, while also providing granular details such as ownership, risk profile, operating systems, patching status, and application traffic. With Armis, the university created drill-down dashboards for managed and unmanaged assets, improved audit readiness across seven to eight annual audits, and gained the visibility needed to prioritize critical risks and drive behavioral change among users; SUTD also plans to expand use of Armis for vulnerability management and security response.
