Armis Expands Visibility into University’s Facility Automation Systems & Provides Actionable Insights

Large State University, a state university with a sprawling “smart campus” of nearly 2,000 buildings, needed better visibility into its building automation systems and OT environment. The Facility Automation Systems team struggled with an incomplete asset inventory, limited visibility into unmanaged devices, and difficulty identifying cybersecurity risks across its highly segmented network.

Armis deployed its agentless asset intelligence and threat detection platform to discover and inventory previously unseen OT and BAS devices, monitor unusual network behavior, and identify vulnerable, outdated, and end-of-life equipment. With Armis, the team uncovered tens of thousands of assets, including hundreds to more than a thousand devices in a new science building alone, and quickly identified issues such as misbehaving DHCP access points, legacy servers, and unsupported systems—saving time and helping the university prioritize remediation and lifecycle upgrades.
