Armis Drives Cybersecurity Remediation Efforts for Nationalized European Water Utility Serving 5 Million People

European Water Utility Company, a nationalized European water utility serving 5 million people, needed to bring thousands of water treatment plants and pumping stations into compliance with EU cybersecurity and resilience directives while protecting safe drinking water operations. With no prior unified IT/OT strategy across 31 local authorities, the utility needed better asset visibility, risk insight, and a non-disruptive way to secure critical OT environments. Armis Centrix™ for OT/IoT Security was selected to help address those challenges.

Armis implemented continuous OT monitoring, asset discovery, vulnerability management, and compliance support, while the utility also began onboarding Armis Managed Threat Services. The results were significant: Armis helped remediate 26 of the country’s largest water treatment plants in 18 months, covering 65% of the population, and enabled the team to identify anomalous PLC behavior and resolve it within a day. Armis also uncovered unauthorized devices on site and is now helping shape a standardized security model across the country’s water infrastructure.
