IDEX Biometrics finds 75% of UK consumers prefer cards with Arlington Research

IDEX Biometrics, a leading provider of fingerprint identification technologies, faced the challenge of understanding UK consumer opinions on the potential shift from payment cards to mobile payments. Arlington Research was engaged to conduct an online survey to gain insights into this sector and its consumers.

Arlington Research implemented a nationally representative online survey of 1,000 UK consumers. The results revealed that payment cards remain the dominant in-store payment method, with 75% of respondents using them most often, while only 3% favored mobile payments. Crucially, 72% expressed concern about relying solely on mobile payments. These insights allowed Arlington Research to help IDEX Biometrics adjust its strategy, position the company as a thought leader in the media, and proactively respond to the market's clear preference for physical cards.
