Case Study: Ryanair achieves resilient, agile website performance with Arkphire and Citrix NetScaler

A Arkphire Case Study

Preview of the Ryanair Case Study

Citrix NetScaler provides resilient agility for Ryanair’s website

Ryanair, the low-cost airline serving 226 destinations across almost 40 countries, needed a way to keep its booking engine resilient under extremely heavy traffic. With around 1.6 billion searches a year and major spikes during promotions and route launches, the company turned to Arkphire’s Citrix NetScaler solution to improve load balancing, reduce server demand, and support agile website changes.

Arkphire implemented NetScaler GSLB and custom rewrite/responder rules to balance traffic across three data centres, switch between active and backup environments, and create or redirect URLs in about 20 minutes instead of hours. The result was no site downtime during updates, stronger resilience for Ryanair’s website, and reduced infrastructure requirements while supporting roughly 1 billion annual visits.
