Oxford Fertility, a leading UK fertility treatment and reproductive medicine centre, needed a secure, cost-effective way to retain patient records for at least 30 years as patient volumes grew rapidly. Working with Arkivum, the unit looked for a digital archiving approach that could replace paper records while meeting strict regulatory requirements and keeping sensitive medical data accessible long term.

Arkivum implemented its A-Stor digital archiving service, powered by IBM System Storage TS3310 and TS3500 tape libraries, to provide encrypted storage, checksum verification, and three-copy redundancy across separate locations. The result was 100 percent data integrity, strong compliance support, and long-term archiving at about 50 percent lower cost than comparable disk storage, giving Oxford Fertility reliable access to records without the expense of building and maintaining its own archive.
