A Arkivum Case Study
Kramlich Collection, a San Francisco-based private collection of more than 200 time-based media artworks, needed a way to preserve and provide access to aging video, film, audio, and computer-based installations created on fragile formats like 16mm film, VHS, and LaserDisc. To protect these important works for long-term study, presentation, and enjoyment, the collection turned to Arkivum and its long-term digital preservation solution.
Arkivum implemented locally deployed gateway appliances across Kramlich Collection sites in the USA, creating a remotely managed, open-standard preservation environment for both digitized legacy works and newly acquired digital artworks. The solution delivers fast, low-latency access and a 100% data integrity guarantee over decade-long timescales, while also eliminating the need for local IT resources and avoiding vendor lock-in.
