Southern Tail Brewing opens 11,000-square-foot brewery with Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center

Southern Tail Brewing, a new craft brewery and restaurant in Little Rock founded by Brent and Tracy Cryder, faced a significant challenge securing multi-million dollar financing for their startup. As first-time operators in the hospitality and alcohol industry, they spent three years pitching to over a dozen banks and funders without success. They sought assistance from the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) and its consultant, Brandon Horvath.

The ASBTDC provided critical guidance, with consultant Brandon Horvath acting as a sounding board and coach. He helped the Cryders refine their presentation to lenders, advising them on what to highlight and which financing alternatives to pursue. This support was instrumental in securing a multi-million dollar loan from Arkansas Federal Credit Union. With financing approved in October 2022, Southern Tail Brewing broke ground and successfully opened its 11,000-square-foot facility in October 2024, employing nearly 50 people and establishing itself as a new destination in Little Rock's East Village.
