Case Study: Merseyrail achieves seamless underground-to-station WiFi and centralized self-healing network management with Arista Networks

A Arista Networks Case Study

Preview of the Merseyrail Case Study

Merseyrail - Customer Case Study

Merseyrail, a busy urban rail network serving Liverpool with about 110,000 passengers on an average weekday across 67 stations (six underground), needed to meet rapidly growing passenger demand for seamless WiFi — including uninterrupted coverage while traveling between underground and aboveground stations — without overburdening a small IT team.

Arista deployed its cloud-managed Cognitive WiFi (CloudVision) with tri-radio APs, WIPS and PCI/DSS security, delivering a self-driving, self-healing network that detects and fixes issues, enables remote monitoring and reduces onsite visits. The rollout produced reliable, pervasive passenger WiFi, freed IT resources, provided station analytics for staff and advertising insights, and prompted consideration of expanding Arista APs to all stations.
