BBC production Village Achieve an 8x Increase in Performance with Arista Switches

BBC Worldwide, through the BBC Production Village in Bristol, needed a faster and more efficient post-production network to support HD workflows, metadata-rich editing, and large media files. Working with Equanet, the team evaluated options and looked for an infrastructure that could outperform legacy 1 Gigabit and Fibre Channel-based systems while fitting the demands of BBC’s production environment.

Arista Networks provided 10GbE switches, including the Arista DCS-7124S, as part of the solution. After testing with Apple Xserves and Sun X4500 storage, the BBC reported more than 8x performance improvement versus 1 Gigabit networking, with high-throughput, low-latency connectivity that enabled more efficient media handling and helped BBC Worldwide meet its broadcasting commitments.
