Baffin Bay Networks is a Swedish security startup that operates globally distributed Threat Protection Centers to stop DDoS, web application attacks and malware. To inspect and clean multiple terabytes of traffic in near real time for large banking, e‑commerce and trading clients, the company needed a very low‑latency, high‑throughput switching platform that could also run embedded detection applications — all while keeping capital costs low.

Baffin Bay deployed redundant Arista 7280R switches running Arista EOS at six centers, embedding its machine‑learning and mitigation software in the switches to inspect traffic at line rate. The platform supports mitigation capacity of 3 Tbps, 500 Gbps transit, 2.88 billion packets/sec performance and protection against 250+ DDoS types, delivering lower latency, higher reliability and room to scale to 100Gbps—while cutting CAPEX by about 75% versus alternatives.
