Strube D&S GmbH, a leading international seed breeding company, faced a challenge in quickly and accurately detecting leaf diseases like cercospora in sugar beet fields. Their previous laboratory-based method was lengthy and costly. They partnered with Arineo to develop a digital solution using artificial intelligence for image recognition.

Arineo developed and trained an AI model using Python and TensorFlow on thousands of leaf images. This model was then integrated into a lean mobile app called "BeetControl," which allows farmers to take pictures with their phones for an immediate analysis of disease infestation levels. The solution replaced the old leaf-picking process, reducing costs for farmers by optimizing spray use and providing a predictive, weather-dependent alert system. Arineo's AI solution enabled Strube to offer an innovative, value-added service to its customers.
