sing CRediT to Capture Author Contributions in EM

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, working with Aries Systems, needed a better way to capture and standardize author contributions during manuscript submission. To address this, the journal used Aries Systems’ Editorial Manager (EM) platform with CRediT integration so contributor roles could be requested or required as part of the submission process.

Aries Systems implemented CRediT in Editorial Manager, enabling The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery to fully adopt the Contributor Roles Taxonomy and record author contributions more consistently. The case study notes contributor role counts for May 2017 through March 2018 and highlights that JBJS was among the first journals to fully implement the integration, demonstrating early adoption and measurable usage of the feature.
