AVX Corporation, a global leader in electronic components manufacturing, needed a stronger way to reduce company-wide cybersecurity risk, with phishing identified as its top threat. The company was relying on G Suite for email and broader productivity, but wanted a more intelligent, proactive approach to protect employees, customers, contractors, and suppliers across its globally distributed operations. Area 1 Security implemented continuous inbound email scanning to block phishing messages and integrated recursive DNS protection to stop access to phishing sites and domains. In a 30-day trial, AVX found nearly 600 malicious emails that had evaded existing Gmail defenses, and over a recent three-month period Area 1 scanned 7.8 million emails and detected more than 12,000 phishing emails—more than 1,000 blocked per week. As a result, AVX reported a global reduction in cyber risk, increased management confidence that inboxes are secure, and less time spent by the security team on incident response.
